It is a 40 item questionnaire that used to diagnosis depression. It is base on 7 depression factors including such trait as somatic complaints, feeling of guilt and excessive self-criticism
The test is scored using a key directly that suggested on booklet. All the items that endorsed depression summed up and interpreted as suggested cutoff score.
|Reliability and Validity||
The scale showed good internal consistency range from .85 to .94. The correlation with other scales also found. The scale have correlation between the MMPI D scale and the depression scale is .31
The handbook refers to a group of “67 clinically diagnosed depressives” together with 729 other “clinical cases” that were differentially diagnosed against 632 normal. It is not clear how these subjects were selected.
This scale can be used in psychological research and clinical diagnosis of depression
