  • Can you get a phd in psychology with a criminal justice degree?

  • I believe you made the right move. They never want us to be great. I pray God leads you down the path He wants for you. Everyone's journey is different. What school was this?

  • I know I'm late on this, but I hope NONE OF THIS BROUGHT YOU DOWN! The way you were treated is AWFUL. You are an intelligent and motivated woman, and I don't understand why someone would want to deter you. Like really!?!? Ugh, I hope you are fulfilled no matter what you end up doing. If that is YouTube, GO GIRL. If it's being a doctor, GO GIRL. I hope so many things have been brought into perspective this past year and that you are beyond proud of the decision you made. Wish you the best.

  • God gave you a light. No one can take that away from you.

  • wow girl what a struggle u went thru….go to another program u happy in. life is too short for misery

  • I don't know you are your experience and definitely not trying to be rude and act like I know but but why not transfer universities. (I don't know if you can do that in grad school)

  • To be honest, I think they were being racist and hating on you because you have the potential to achieve greatness within those groups of people. I currently started working in a lab through a program that encourages minority students to pursue a Ph.D. But I tend to feel awkward and stressed at times by the environment there, and part of the reason is that I feel that I don't fit in completely and also because the professor acts kind of bipolar. I am barely starting this journey of mine, but I might just change professors if I don't connect with this one over time, I don't want to have to put up with crap. I definitely agree that you have to feel comfortable doing what you do and being where you are, especially if you're going into programs that last 5-7 years, which is a very long time. I'm still testing the waters.

  • Thanks for sharing this. You are a very strong woman. Keep going and be confidence as you know you are!

  • HBCU's are the way to go.

  • C B

With that accreditation issue, looks like you dodged a huge bullet. To do all that work and not even be able to get your degree in the end. Sorry you had that experience….🤗hugs🤗

  • Sis, thanks for sharing. I've been having my own issues as an African-American PhD student, but I decided to stick in there. Did you ever get back in to grad school? I hate to see Blacks give up in the face of White Supremacy.

  • How are you doing now? Update video? I am torn because I am glad that you took action moved on for your health and total well being…I'm also like dang you had to quit. Thank you for sharing this part of reality, because we will at times be put into situations like this.

  • WOW!! That sounded like a whole bunch of jealousy going on!!

  • Improvise, adapt, and overcome. If at first you don't succeed, back off. You've done that. People are not always in our corner. Despite that, we get back up and hit it again. You can do it. God bless.

  • Yas girl

  • I know this is an older video but did you say you got a MBA was it hard I'm starting this program next week and so am terrified.

  • Man let me not act "ignant" I am soo sorry they put u through this … I got sooo many words ! It may be irrelevant now but that shit will be something that will stick with you …

  • c m

You should have set a meeting with the Dean

  • Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope you go through all this terrible stuff. I had a similar condition in the second year of my master program. The postDoc took away my research topic, and there was no one on my side in whole department including my adviser. Everybody thought this was all my fault! This situation forced me to get into another totally different field for a new start. I wish I can go through all this misery and find the peace in my heart. Still hurt.

  • Aww this broke my heart and pissed me off so much. I'm new to your channel but you've honestly inspired me so much. I relate so much to. Your passion for your dreams and what you've already accomplished is so inspiring. I think you've made the best decision too walk away from that terrible program, and like you said you'll find the right program God has for you. Loved the video as always and shining boo don't let no one take your light.

  • This breaks my heart to hear that this happened! I had a similar experience with my old graduate school. My advisors and my practicum supervisors bullied me and lied on me. They tried everything to get me out of the program and sabatoge me. My classmates talked behind my back. This experience was an experience from hell to say the least. But I left that situation because it was too much on me emotionally and it was messing with my healthy. I even consulted with legal counsel too (I understand your mother's point on that). I find that a lot of these psychology program schools have individuals who are racist and promote microagressions. It really sad and it needs to be investigated.
Like everyone has said before, God navigated you away from that situation for the better. He has something better for you. You need time to heal from this experience and refocus. It may seem hopeless but know that there is a better program for you. I just began my "better program" last week in a MSW program. I am content with where I am at. I do feel supported. I just want to let you know that you are a strong, fierce Black woman and you will succeed! 💓💓💓

  • I just started a channel about my experience as a graduate student in Clinical Psychology if you want to check it out 🙂

  • I have a question. Did your advisors require you add them on your instagram and social media. How did they find that out ?

  • I have only one thing to say. Maybe this is not the career path for you. Because I believe that if you are truly passionate about something, no matter what you will always pursue it. Maybe you have something else in your heart that really feels natural for you 🙂
